The requirements
When intervening in a process, the operator must be protected against the machine starting up unexpectedly. At the same time, synchronisation of the axes must be maintained and the machine must be guaranteed to restart quickly.
The solution
Servo amplifiers PMCprotego DS provide the necessary safety in this case. Thanks to their drive-integrated safety functions, it is possible to intervene in the process safely.
The safe operating stop function monitors the axis stop position and prevents any deviation from the position window. The drive’s control functions are maintained in full. If the position strays outside of the monitored window, the drive is shut down safely.
Using this safety function in combination with the safe stop 2 leads to increased productivity in the event of process intervention. Axis synchronisation is maintained during process intervention and the machine is guaranteed to restart quickly. The operator is also protected against the machine starting up unexpectedly.
